Every human being has the right to education that corresponds with his capabilities and skills. This enables him to participate in society and to contribute to its life in accordance with his talents. This fundamental right is affirmed in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. In dialogue with the EU COMECE offers the experience of the Church who runs a wide range of institutions of formal and non-formal education. Increasing plurality and global migration movements raises the importance of intercultural dialogue in our society. In her contributions to this topic COMECE underlines the importance of «intercultural competence», of tolerance, openness and of mutual respect in a context of different cultures and traditions.

Conclusive session of the Interfaith Youth Convention on the European Green Deal. Registration now open!

COMECE and its partners invite you to join the conclusive session of the Interfaith Youth Convention on the European Green Deal “Striking a Deal for our Common Home”, taking place on Thursday 25 November 2021 from 11:00 to 12:30 (CET), with the extraordinary participation of EU Commission’s Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans. The event will be held online and will gather young people representative of Bahá’í, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim confessions to exchange on the European Green Deal.

COMECE Catholic Youth Convention gathers young people to exchange on the Future of Europe

The Commission of the Bishops’ Conference of the European Union (COMECE) releases on Thursday 9 September the final report of its Catholic Youth Convention on the Future of Europe, held online last June with the participation of over 100 young Catholics from all EU Member States. The report contains concrete policy proposals and suggestions to address today’s  most urgent issues in Europe. Cardinal Hollerich: “Full trust in young people”.

COMECE contributes to the European Commission’s New European Bauhaus

The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) participated in the design phase of the European Commission’s initiative New European Bauhaus, highlighting the valuable convergence of the Encyclical letter Laudato Si’ and the work of Churches with  the objectives of the initiative.
