Commission on the External Relations of the European Union
The Commission on the External Relations of the European Union monitors and prepares statements, contributions and activities to the ongoing EU-policy and public debate on the External Action of the EU which comprises the establishment of good relations with third countries and international organisations on the basis of the values of the Union, the promotion of human rights in the world, the development of a common foreign and security policy, the trade policy of the European Union, the Union’s neighbourhood policy, development and humanitarian aid policy of the EU.This Commission is at the same time an ad-hoc working group of Justice and Peace Europe.
Its President is Bishop Rimantas Norvila, Bishop of Vilkaviškis (Lithuania) and its Secretary is Marek Misak (Legal adviser at the COMECE secretariat). The members are experts nominated by the EU Bishops’ Conferences. The General Secretary of Justice & Peace Europe and Adviser at the COMECE secretariat Stefan Lunte is participating ex officio in this Commission.
