Synod on Youth continues at COMECE
Representatives of youth organisations and EU policy makers gathered on Thursday 11 April 2019 to exchange with Mgr. Jean-Claude Hollerich, S.J., President of COMECE, on ways to fully empower young people at all levels of economic, social and political life.
Following the recent promulgation of “Christus Vivit”, the post-synodal apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis to the youth, the event, co-organised by COMECE and Don Bosco International, highlighted the urgency to continue on the path marked by the “Synod on Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment”.
“It is the vocation of the Church – stated Mgr. Hollerich, who participated in the October 2018 Youth Synod - to listen to young people’s fears, and to work together, including at the European level, allowing them to fulfil their dreams and aspirations in their local communities”.
In close contact with youth organisations, COMECE contributed to the recent initiatives carried out by the EU in the field of youth policy, including the European Solidarity Corps and the youth exchange programme Erasmus.
COMECE is strengthening its collaboration with Catholic youth organisations to better promote their proposals and perspectives in dialogue with EU institutions.
