SPEECH | EU Bishops' President Mgr. Crociata offers reflection on the European integration
|
|
9 November - The President of COMECE, H.E. Mgr. Mariano Crociata, participated in the conference 'L’UE che prende forma: le partite da giocare a Bruxelles e nei territori' which marked the opening of the second year of the School for Social and Political Engagement, 'Custodi del futuro'. This initiative was promoted by the Dioceses of Porto-Santa Rufina and Civitavecchia-Tarquinia, in collaboration with the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences «AUXILIUM». Our president emphasised that the "shape" of the EU reflects two aspects: the institutional and the ideal. "It has become a vast and complex organism—necessary but fragile", he noted. "A division is evident within the EU, the same division that exists within the countries that compose it". The mistake, he pointed out, was "assuming that a monetary and economic union would naturally lead to a union of ideals". Read his full speech
