As part of the Season of Creation, which culminates on 4 October, the European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA) invites you to two special events focused on water management, taking place on 1-2 October 2024 in Brussels.
Tuesday, 1 October: Vernissage of Burnt Landscapes
We invite you to the opening of Burnt Landscapes, an exhibition by French painter Claire Forgeot. Her artwork, deeply influenced by the devastation of burnt landscapes and the severe scarcity of water, offers a striking reflection on the environmental crises we face today.
Wednesday, 2 October: Half-Day Conference Water – Too Much, Too Little
Dive deeper into the global water challenges at our half-day conference. The session will begin with key insights from Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. Three distinguished speakers will then explore the competing interests surrounding water in different European regions, with a focus on how EU policies are shaping these issues. EU policymakers will also join the discussion, sharing their perspectives on the future of water management.
Both events will take place at the Chapel for Europe (Rue Van Maerlant 22/24, Brussels) and are particularly relevant to ELSiA members, European Commission officials, MEPs working on water issues, and Brussels-based NGOs.
Mandatory registration is required. To see the full program and sign up, click here.
