18/07 - The COMECE Youth Net will hold the panel discussion entitled “Christian testimonies between faith and social engagement” on Thursday 3 August 2023 in the framework of World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal. The event will be a unique chance to rediscover the involvement of Christians in politics, society ad culture in Europe and the world.

11/07 - In the run-up to the EU-CELAC Summit, COMECE, together with CELAM, Caritas Europa and Caritas LAC, launched a series of short videos advocating for a people-centered and just partnership between the two regions. COMECE President Mgr. Crociata: “The Summit should be also an opportunity to promote a culture of encounter and peace.”

VISIT | The COMECE Secretariat visits the Archdiocese of Luxembourg
|

14/07 - Former President of COMECE, H.Em. Cardinal Jean-Claude HollerichSJ, hosted the staff of our Secretariat during a day visit to his hometown of Vianden, in northern Luxembourg. The Cardinal celebrated the Holy Mass in the Church of the Trinitarian, offering a homily on the mission of COMECE in the context of the EU institutions. When visiting the old castle of Vianden, COMECE staff were led by Gaby Frantzen-Heger, the city's former mayor.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION | COMECE expresses solidarity with Muslim communities
|
|
04/07 - Following the burning of the Quran in Stockholm, Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto, General Secretary of COMECE made the following statement: "COMECE stands in fraternal support with Muslim communities, condemning without reservations the burning of the Quran staged in Stockholm some days ago, as well as any similar actions of hatred or incitements to violence in Europe. We ask Member States across the EU to strive to ensure greater respect for religions and their sacred symbols in the public square."
