VISIT | The COMECE Secretariat visits the Archdiocese of Luxembourg

14/07 - Former President of COMECE, H.Em. Cardinal Jean-Claude HollerichSJ, hosted the staff of our Secretariat during a day visit to his hometown of Vianden, in northern Luxembourg. The Cardinal celebrated the Holy Mass in the Church of the Trinitarian, offering a homily on the mission of COMECE in the context of the EU institutions. When visiting the old castle of Vianden, COMECE staff were led by Gaby Frantzen-Heger, the city's former mayor.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION | COMECE expresses solidarity with Muslim communities

04/07 - Following the burning of the Quran in Stockholm, Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto, General Secretary of COMECE made the following statement: "COMECE stands in fraternal support with Muslim communities, condemning without reservations the burning of the Quran staged in Stockholm some days ago, as well as any similar actions of hatred or incitements to violence in Europe. We ask Member States across the EU to strive to ensure greater respect for religions and their sacred symbols in the public square."

H.E. Mgr. Bertam Meier, together with a group of faithful from the Diocese of Augsburg (Germany), will visit the Secretariat of COMECE to know more about the mission of dialogue carried out with the institutions of the European Union.

28-29 September
H.E. Mgr. Hoogenboom will preside over the Autumn meeting of the COMECE Legal Affairs Commission. The meeting will be online.

29-30 September
General Secretary Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto will participate in the Krakow Conference, Poland.

8-10 November
The 2023 Autumn General Assembly of COMECE will take place in Brussels. The event will be presided over by President H.E. Mgr. Mariano Crociata.

15 November
Autumn meeting of the COMECE Commission on the External Affairs of the European Union. The meeting will presided over by H.E. Mgr. Jan Vokál. The meeting will be online.

17 November
Autumn meeting of the COMECE Commission on Culture and Education. The meeting will be presided over by H.E. Janusz Stepnowski. The meeting will be held online.

27-30 November
General Secretary Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto will participate in the CCEE Plenary Assembly to take place in Malta.

Adviser Alessandro Calcagno will participate in the CCEE meeting of Bishops’ Conferences legal advisers.
