NEWS | Second Caravan for Integral Ecology in dialogue with the EU at COMECE

22/09 - The second Caravan for Integral Ecology of the network Iglesia y MinerĂa visited COMECE and engaged in a dialogue meeting with representatives of the EU institutions on the impacts of mining and extractivism on local communities in Latin America. The dialogue meeting with the representatives of the institutions of the European Union was organised by COMECE, CIDSE and the European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA).

The delegation was headed by H.E. Mgr. Noel Antonio Londoño Buitrago, Bishop of Jericó (Colombia).

NEWS | COMECE Legal Affairs Commission exchanges on the Directive on non-profit associations and the Rule of Law 2023 report

28-29/09 - The COMECE Legal Affairs Commission reconvened for the second meeting of the year. Among the topics that were addressed in dialogue with the European Commission, to be noted are the new proposal for a Directive on non-profit associations and the Rule of Law 2023 reporting cycle.
|
Experts also discussed with a parliamentary representative the ongoing discussions on the legislative proposal to fight against online child pornography.
|
Reflections were devoted to the evolution of EU jurisprudence on discrimination on grounds of religion, with particular regard to the wearing of religious symbols at the workplace. GDPR remained a priority, with an exchange of updates on the national contexts. The event took place in a virtual format.

EVENT | Documentary on child labour in the Dominican Republic to be screened at COMECE

27/09 - We invite you to join the launch event of the documentary Canillitas on the issue of child labour in the Dominican Republic. During the event will also be possible to listen to testimonies from one of the child protagonists of the documentary, as well as from representatives of the Canillitas program. "Globalisation must not lead to prosperity for the few, but must create justice for all".
