10/10 - In the context of the current dramatic and devastating events unfolding in the Holy Land, the President of COMECE, H.E. Mgr. Mariano Crociata, expressed on behalf of the EU Bishops prayerful closeness and solidarity with the families of all the victims of the massive attacks targeting innocent civilians in Israel.
Sharing Pope Francis’ sorrowful concern for this grave situation, Mgr. Crociata also called on all parties involved to cease the attacks, release the kidnapped hostages and halt the spiral of violence.
He equally appealed to the international community, including the European Union, to make every effort to contribute to a de-escalation of the situation, while ensuring the fundamental rights of all people in the region and respecting the historical and legal Status Quo of all the Holy Shrines.
