10/03 - The President of the EU Bishops, Cardinal Hollerich, addressed a letter to Moscow Patriarch Kirill on Tuesday 8 March 2022 asking him to issue an urgent appeal to Russian authorities to immediately stop the hostilities against the Ukrainian people.

08/03 - A COMECE-CEC delegation met with Ambassador Philippe Leglise-Costa, Permanent Representative of France to the European Union, to exchange on the priorities of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

EVENT | 3rd edition of the European Catholic Social Days to be held in Bratislava on 17-20 March 2022
|

01/03 - The 3rd edition of the European Catholic Social Days will be held on 17-20 March 2022 in Bratislava, Slovakia. The event aims to promote dialogue on social justice within the Church and among Europeans in a context marked by demographic imbalances, technological disruption and ecological injustices. The event will be streamed live on the official website.

During these 3rd European Catholic Social Days special attention will also be paid to the situation in Ukraine and the Eastern border of the EU and moments of prayer will be organised to ask for peace and the conversion of the hearts. Journalists and media operators who would like to attend and cover the event can now request their accreditation.

NEWS | COMECE congratulates Katalin Novák on her election as President of Hungary

10/03 - On behalf of COMECE, General Secretary Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto congratulated Katalin Novák on her election as the new president of Hungary. "We look forward to continuing working together with her to promote family as the fundamental cell of our society and the other common values we share" - he stated.

WOMEN'S DAY | Combating violence against women and domestic violence
|

08/03 - Last week COMECE organised a working group to discuss the necessity to better protect women in a vulnerable situation. The European Commission has recently proposed new rules to combat violence against women and domestic violence.
|
|
On the occasion of the International Women's Day and of the international conference "Female Doctors of the Church and Patron Saints of Europe", Osservatore Romano published the article "Tre donne per il futuro dell’Europa" by Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto, General Secretary of COMECE.

NEWS | Cardinal Hollerich meets with FAFCE President
|
|
|
04/03 - The President of COMECE, H. Em. Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich SJ, met with Vincenzo Bassi and Nicola Speranza, President and General Secretary of the Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe (FAFCE) respectively. The meeting was an occasion to discuss many subjects of common interest, among which the COMECE-FAFCE cooperation in the context of the war in Ukraine and of the 3rd edition of the European Catholic Social Days.
