22/03 - His Excellency Mgr. Mariano Crociata (Italy) is the new President of COMECE. He was elected by the Bishop Delegates of the EU Episcopates, gathered in Rome for the Spring Plenary Assembly of COMECE.

23/03 - Pope Francis addressed the Bishops of the European Union and their new Presidency. The Holy Father asked them to never lose sight of “the two great dreams of Europe’s founding fathers: the dream of unity and the dream of peace”.

22/03 - Together with the new President, the COMECE Assembly also elected four Vice-Presidents mirroring the geographical and cultural diversity of the Church in the EU: Mgr. Hérouard (France), Mgr. Brás da Silva Martins (Portugal), Mgr. Norvila (Lithuania), Mgr. Kozon (Nordic Bishops' Conference). Mgr. Hérouard is the First Vice-President.

NEWS | Who are the new Presidents of the COMECE Commissions?
|
|
During the last day of the Spring Plenary Assembly, the existing COMECE Working Groups for the policy areas of Migration & Asylum, Ethics, Culture & Education have been transformed into Commissions. This brings the total number of COMECE internal Commissions to six. The Commissions are one of the most effective instruments of the Church-EU dialogue. Each Commission is chaired by a Bishop elected by the Assembly. Here is the updated list.
