31/05 - While in Stockholm for the COMECE-CEC ecumenical delegation's meeting with the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the President of COMECE, Mgr. Mariano Crociata, spoke with the national press on migration and asylum EU policies, emphasising the need to respect the dignity and fundamental rights of migrants and asylum seekers at all stages of the process.
Mgr. Crociata also highlighted the positive contribution that Churches can give in strengthening unity in the EU, as well as tackling the phenomenon of loneliness.

In a statement, the Alliance welcomes the adoption of the Directive, remaining “hopeful that the proposed text will be supported and strengthened in the course of the inter-institutional dialogue due to start next week”.
