22/09 - Delegates of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union will hold the Autumn COMECE Plenary Assembly in Brussels on 12-14 October 2022 for an in-depth discussion on the socio-economic and geopolitical implications of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with a particular emphasis on the energy crisis.
The event will feature a dialogue meeting with Klaus Welle, Secretary-General of the European Parliament, an exchange with Pascal Lamy, former Director General of the World Trade Organisation and Coordinator of the Jacques Delors think tanks network, and Philip McDonagh, Director of the Centre for Religion, Human Values, and International Relations at the Dublin City University. 📰 Read the Press Release

22/09 - On the occasion of the 2022 COMECE Autumn Assembly and in the context of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Bishops of the European Union warmly invite you to participate in the ‘Mass for Europe’ to be celebrated at the Church of Notre-Dame des Victoires au Sablon, Place du Grand Sablon, Bruxelles, on Wednesday 12 October 2022 at 19:00 (CET).
The Mass will be concelebrated by the Bishops Delegates of the Episcopates of the 27 EU Member States. It is a public event and does not require registration. ✉ Share the invitation!

NEWS | COMECE launches an ad-hoc Working Group on Social Economy

20/09 - The President of our Social Affairs Commission H.E. Mgr. Antoine Hérouard chaired the 1st meeting of the recently launched COMECE ad-hoc Working Group on Social Economy. In the next months, the Working Group will provide a Catholic contribution in view of the 2023 EU Council recommendation on Social Economy.

VISIT | SKM delegation visits the Secretariat of COMECE

21/09 - A 'Sozialdienst Katholischer Männer' delegation led by Caritas Germany came to Brussels to visit the Secretariat of COMECE and learn more about COMECE mission of dialogue with the EU institutions. The members of the delegation also had the opportunity to exchange with our advisers on contribution of COMECE for human-centred policies.

28 September
COMECE General Secretary will participate in the reception for Rosh haShanah, the Jewish New Year, organised in Brussels by the European Jewish Association (EJA).

29-30 September
The COMECE Legal Affairs Commission will be chaired by its President Mgr. Hoogenboom and will focus on the fight against child sexual abuse online, the primacy of EU law over national law, cross-border family law, GDPR, discrimination on grounds of religion.

3-5 October
COMECE will participate in the European Meeting with the Pastoral Migrants to take place in Paris with about 30 delegates from European cities. COMECE will present its mission of dialogue with the EU institutions and its activities in the field of migration and asylum.

4 October
Launch of the COMECE Youth Net.

12-14 October
The COMECE 2022 Autumn General Assembly will take place in Brussels (Belgium) and will be chaired by H.Em. Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich SJ. More info will be available in the next few days.
