21/11 - In an interview with the Croatian weekly newspaper Glas Koncila, COMECE General Secretary Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto restates COMECE's call to the European Commission to appoint a new EU Special Envoy for the promotion of Freedom of Religion or Belief outside the European Union, providing sufficient resources to properly carry out its function. Fr. Barrios Prieto:"It is not an abstract political game: it is a matter of life and death."

The event featured the participation of Fr. Eduardo Agosta and Fr. Charles Chilufya, Senior Adviser of the Laudato Si' Movement and Director of the Jesuit Ecology Network Africa respectively. ELSiA is the European Laudato Si' Alliance and COMECE is one of its founding members.

NEWS | COMECE in Strasbourg to exchange perspectives with MEPs and EU officials on topics of shared concern

21-23/11 - COMECE General Secretary Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto was in Strasbourg in the context of the Plenary of the European Parliament, meeting with different MEPs and EU officials and discussing issues of shared concern.
He was also invited to participate in a meeting of the EPP Group Unit for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, exchange perspectives on the war in Ukraine, EU-China relations, Food Security and on the need for the appointment of the new EU Special Envoy on FoRB.
