NEWS | Holy Mass in memory of late EP President David Sassoli. Mgr Crociata: "President Sassoli was inspired by a vision fuelled, nurtured and enlivened by hope"

12/01 - On the occasion of the first anniversary since the passing of the late President of the European Parliament David Sassoli, COMECE, together with the Apostolic Nunciature to the EU and the Italian Catholic community in Belgium, celebrated on Wednesday 11 January 2023 a commemorative Holy Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victories of the Sablon in Brussels.
The homily was offered by H.E. Mgr. Mariano Crociata, First Vice-President of COMECE. “President David Sassoli was inspired by a vision fuelled, nurtured and enlivened by hope, an inner vision that he sought to realise through every step, every gesture and every word, in a constant quest for unity and openness”, stated Mgr. Crociata.

COMECE will participate in the Article 17 dialogue seminar on liberal democracies organised by the European Parliament and hosted by Othmar Karas, EP First Vice-President responsible for Article 17 dialogue. The event will take place in room ASP 3E2 of the European Parliament in Brussels from 13:00 to 16:00 (CET). The event is open to the public (EP badge needed).

Justice and Peace Europe's Prayer Breakfast to take place at the COMECE Secretariat. The event will present Pope Francis' message for the World Day of Peace 2023.

Online meeting of the COMECE Standing Committee.

COMECE will receive a group of young students from the Rondine Euro-Med programme.

27 January
High-Level meeting between EU and religious leaders. The theme of the event is: "The impact of the war in Ukraine on the European way life". COMECE will be represented by Mgr. Antoine Hérouard (President of the COMECE Social Affairs Commission) and Mgr. Cyril Vasil' SJ (Bishop of the Greek Catholic Eparchy of Košice).
