Manuel Barrios Prieto, General Secretary of COMECE made the following statement: "COMECE stands in fraternal support with Muslim communities, condemning without reservations the burning of the Quran staged in Stockholm some days ago, as well as any similar actions of hatred or incitements to violence in Europe. We ask Member States across the EU to strive to ensure greater respect for religions and their sacred symbols in the public square."

The meeting was organised by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and featured the contributions, among the others, of H.Em. Cardinal Mario Grech, General Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, as well as of H.Em. Cardinal Michael Czerny SJ, Prefect of the Dicastery.
