Interreligious dialogue, Cardinal Ayuso visits COMECE

On Wednesday 11thDecember H. Em. Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, visited COMECE and celebrated Holy Mass in the chapel with members of the Secretariat, MEPs and other persons related to EU institutions. In his homily, based on the readings of the day, he exhorted the participants to find “our real rest in the Lord”.

Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso was invited to Brussels on the occasion of the annual EPP Interreligious Dialogue held on Thursday 12 December 2019 at the Lebanese Maronite Monastery of Saint Charbel, Belgium. This year the EPP event focused on the document “Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed in Abu Dhabi on February 2019 by Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar.

The dialogue meeting saw the participation of MEPs, diplomats, policy experts and Jewish, Muslim and Christian leaders, among which also H. Em. Card. Miguel Ayuso and Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto, General Secretary of COMECE, who highlighted that “freedom and citizenship are important concepts contained in the ‘Human Fraternity’ document that we have to implement for peace and a better living”.
