Pope Francis to join (Re)Thinking Europe

The Holy Father, Pope Francis, will participate to (Re)Thinking Europe on Saturday 28th October 2017, at 17:30, at the New Synod Hall in the Vatican City. The event will be live streamed.

Pope Francis will join the 350 participants – all high-level Church and EU leaders, academics and representatives of the civil society – gathered in the Vatican City since Friday in order to engage each other into a dialogue on Europe and for Europe, starting a new process aiming to put the common good and the human person, with its dignity, at the centre of the EU policies.

In the hope of Cardinal Reinhard Marx, President of COMECE, the Pope will encourage and support all religious and secular actors working for the common good “in order to continue this dialogue looking to the future of Europe and of the European Union”.

Pope’s discourse during (Re)Thinking Europe – an event wanted, planned and organised by COMECE and the Holy See – will be his fifth discourse on Europe and the European Union. So far, all his discourses have given significant departure points for reflection, which guide us in our work in the COMECE and offer words of hope and encouragement to Europe overall.
