Mgr Anton Jamnik was born in 1961 in Ljubljana. He graduated in 1987 and was ordained priest in the same year. In 1993 he defended his master’s thesis entitled The Sacred between Transcendence and Immanence in Contemporary Slovenian Philosophical Thought at the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Ljubljana.
He continued his doctoral studies and in 1997 completed his dissertation Rawls’s Attempt at an Ethical Justification of Liberalism.
Mgr Jamnik is actively involved with several universities and higher education institutions abroad and is well known as a lecturer at home and abroad.
He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Ljubljana by Pope Benedict XVI in 2005 and received his episcopal consecration in Ljubljana on 8 January 2006.
In May 2022 Mgr Jamnik became a Bishop Delegate to COMECE.
