Bishop Přibyl was born on 16 November 1971 in Prague. Following his graduation, he entered the novitiate in Lubaszowa (Poland) and subsequently took his religious vows in the Redemptorist congregation. From 1991 to 1996, he studied at the Faculty of Catholic Theology at Charles University in Prague, while also completing his training at the Archdiocesan Seminary in Prague. He was ordained a priest in 1996.
From 2002 to 2011, he served as Provincial of the Prague Province of the Redemptorists. Between 2009 and 2016, he was Vicar General of the Diocese of Litoměřice. Since 1 October 2016, he has been Secretary General of the Czech Bishops’ Conference.He obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Catholic Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague in 2012 and a Doctorate in Theology from the same institution in 2014. In 2019, he completed a master’s degree in finance and management at the Faculty of Social and Economic Studies at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem.
On 23 December 2023, he was appointed Bishop of Litoměřice. He took office as the 21st Bishop of Litoměřice on 2 March 2024, receiving the bishop’s consecration on the same day. Within the Czech Bishops’ Conference, he serves as Vice-President of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, Vice-President of the Permanent Council of the Czech Bishops’ Conference.
