The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) is pleased to announce the launch of applications for the second edition of the European Summer School, organised by the School of Governance and Leadership Isabel la Católica in collaboration with COMECE. This year’s event will be held from 5 to 13 July 2025 in the historic Monastery of Poblet, a stunning former medieval fortress in Catalonia, now transformed into a centre for reflection, study, and dialogue. Apply now!
Under the theme “Security and Defence in Europe”, the Summer School will bring together 50 young leaders aged 22 to 35 with international experts, senior strategists and distinguished academics. Participants will engage with professionals experienced in NATO, the European Parliament, top security think tanks and the diplomatic sphere to explore Europe’s role in a world facing growing uncertainties.
Over nine days, attendees will delve into critical global issues such as the war in Ukraine, instability in Africa and the Middle East, nuclear deterrence, tensions in the Asia-Pacific region and hybrid threats to European security. Discussions will be approached through a critical and ethical lens, aiming to shape future leaders equipped with purpose, virtuous, insight and a commitment to serve the common good.
As part of the cultural experience, the programme includes a visit to Barcelona, featuring a guided tour and exclusive access to the Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí’s iconic masterpiece.
