The European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA), together with COMECE and JESC, held a successful conference on Thursday 7 December 2023 aimed to better understand the importance of Pope Francis’ message in rediscovering our vocation as guardians of Creation and restoring a harmonious relationship between humanity and Creation. Entitled “The new Laudate Deum of Pope Francis and the EU’s Green Transition”, the conference also emphasised the need to make sure that the green transition truly “leaves no one behind”. The event featured the participation of Fr. Xavier De Bénazé SJ, Delegate “Laudato Si’” of the Jesuit French-Speaking Province, Josianne Gauthier, Secretary General of CIDSE, and Marie Toussaint, member of the European Parliament.
In a fruitful dialogue, the speakers discussed the various challenges in the current climate and ecological crisis and explored possible solutions. The need for an integral approach to overcome differences to address the issues together and to put the human person in the centre emerged as some of the main conclusions.
