Video recordings of the 5th European Laudato Si’ Reflection Day now available!

The video recordings of the 5th Laudato Si’ Reflection Day are now available! The event was held on 17 May 2022 by the European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA) to reflect on environmental activism in Europe.

On May 17th 2022, ELSiA has organised the 5th edition of the European Laudato Si’ Reflection Day, an event dedicated to selected themes from Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter Laudato Si’.

During the event, participants have had a chance to delve deep on issues of environmental activism, with leaders from different generations, sharing their wisdom and hopes.

Other themes included sustainable fashion and sustainable food production and consumption, biodiversity, youth leadership in leading the change and a reflection on the true costs of the ecological transition and what we can truly do to make it happen for everyone.

  • Opening remarks and prayer: by H.E. Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich SJ, President of COMECE and Honorary President of ELSiA;
  • Session 1: an intergenerational dialogue on climate activism with Ernst Ulrich von Weiszacher and Monika Skadborg;
  • Session 2, Part A: Fast Fashion vs Sustainable Fashion with Anne Tran, Dr Charu Jain, Eleonora Evi MEP and Paola Migliorini, European Commission;
  • Session 2, Part B: Biodiversity with Amy Echeverria – Columban Mission and Angelo Salsi, CINEA;
  • Session 2, Part C: Fast Food vs Sustainable Food Production with Marta Mess, Slow Food Europe, Dr Marta Antonelli, Barilla Foundation and Paschalis Loucaides, ‘Too Good To Go’;
  • Session 3: Youths leading the change with “The Future lies with Youth”, “On-Eko” and “Armadio Etico”;
  • Session 4: A fair and just ecological transition for all with Dr Elisabeth Sawin – Multisolving Institute, Dr Mark Charlesworth – St. Mary’s University, Lorenzo Roesel of CISL, Ciaran Foulds, theologian.
