Born in Bulgaria, Mgr. Valov is the Apostolic Eparch for the Byzantine Catholic faithful in the country. He pursued his philosophical and theological studies in preparation for the priesthood, with a particular focus on Eastern spirituality and liturgy.
After his ordination, he carried out various pastoral responsibilities, serving Byzantine Catholic communities and contributing to the formation of the faithful.
In 2024, he was appointed Apostolic Eparch by Pope Francis, assuming responsibility for the pastoral care and development of the Byzantine Catholic Church entrusted to him. In his ministry, he promotes the richness of the Eastern tradition, ecclesial unity and ecumenical dialogue. He is the Eparch of ‘St John XXIII’ in Sofia.
Since 2024, he has served as the Bulgarian delegated bishop to the Assembly of COMECE.
