CALL TO ACTION: participate in the ELSiA Living Laudato Si’ Survey

The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) encourages Catholic dioceses and organisations across Europe to participate in the European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA) survey, which aims to gain an understanding of how Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter “Laudato Si'” has been received across Europe and the initiatives it has inspired. The survey is available here

COMECE supports the launch of the “Living Laudato Si’” survey, a project designed by ELSiA to gain a deeper understanding of the initiatives inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical letter that have been put into practice throughout Europe.

Following a successful pilot phase in Ireland, Catholic dioceses and organisations in Portugal, France, Scotland, England and Wales, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Croatia, the Netherlands and Austria have been invited to participate. The deadline for answering the survey is October 31, 2023.

All European Bishops’ Conferences, dioceses, religious congregations, Catholic NGOs and networks, Catholic movements, Church organisations, Catholic schools and universities are invited to actively participate in this initiative by completing the online survey. The survey is available here.

A consortium of Catholic universities is tasked with gathering and analysing the data collected. It is composed by: St Mary’s University – Twickenham, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Milan, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Universitat Ramon Llull, Hrvatsko Katoličko Sveučilište, EMD-Ecole de Management Marseille.

ELSiA plans to present the survey results on the celebrations of its 6th Laudato Si’ Reflection Day that will take place in the Vatican in May 2024.

The survey is currently accessible in English, Italian, Portuguese, Croatian, French, Dutch and German. Persons based in Europe who can speak any of these languages are highly encouraged to answer the questionnaire. This can take up to 4 minutes or more, depending on the questions that want to be answered,

ELSiA is a network of Church institutions and Catholic organisations with the aim to promote the comprehensive approach of the encyclical letter Laudato Si’ and related Church teachings in the European context, with a special focus on the institutions of the European Union.

COMECE is a founding member of ELSiA. Other members of the alliance are: Caritas Europa, CIDSE, Don Bosco International, Jesuit European Social Centre, Justice and Peace Europe and the Laudato Si’ Movement.
