Today, Wednesday, May 7, 2025, on this day marked by the opening of the Conclave, the President of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE), Mgr. Mariano Crociata, invites everyone to join “spiritually, accompanying with prayer the delicate task of the College of Cardinals.” In this context, COMECE announces the publication of the volume “Pope Francis and Europe – A collection of speeches for peace”, as a tribute to the attention that Pope Francis has dedicated to Europe and the European Union.
The book “Pope Francis and Europe – A collection of speeches for peace” gathers the five major speeches of Pope Francis on Europe, enriched with two additional interventions made in recent years, as well as two speeches delivered by His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
The booklet will be distributed to the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union and to the representatives of the European institutions. Additionally, an English copy will be available at the COMECE Secretariat for anyone who wishes to consult it.
The publication of this book dedicated to Pope Francis is intended not only as a tribute to his testimony of peace and dialogue with European institutions but also as a sign of spiritual continuity and hope as we prepare to welcome the new Successor of Peter.
In view of the celebration of the Santa Messa pro eligendo Pontifice followed by the opening of the Conclave, the President of COMECE, Mgr. Mariano Crociata, invites all ecclesial communities in the European Union to “join spiritually, accompanying with prayer the delicate task of the College of Cardinals, confident that the discreet and effective work of the Holy Spirit will bring light and prepare for the Church the new Pope that the Lord wishes to give us.”
