EVENT | “Europe, a look at the origins, a vision for the future” – Book Presentation and Debate

Ahead of the European elections and the 20th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union, COMECE invites you to a book presentation and public discussion. Join us for “Europe, a leap to the unknown: a look at the origins, a vision for the future. The Polish contribution to the European project”, taking place at the Secretariat of COMECE in Brussels, on Tuesday, 9 April 2024, at 18:00 (CET). Register now!

Authored by Victoria Martín de la Torre, the book delves into the pivotal decade that witnessed the birth of the European Communities, exploring the connections between the EU’s founding fathers. The book also sheds light on the significant role of Catholic Social Teaching in founding the European Communities, highlighting the contribution of prominent Poles to the vision of a united Europe and their integral role in early pro-European networks during the 1930s and 1940s.

The evening will feature a debate with the author and distinguished Polish Members of the European Parliament, Roza Thun (Renew) and Jan Olbrycht (EPP). The discussion will be moderated by Piotr Maciej Kaczynski, commentator and expert from the Bronislaw Geremek Foundation, followed by a session for audience questions and contributions.
