The roundtable event was an opportunity for us to share some of the key elements of a Catholic vision for the renewed partnership between the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean countries, and to also have a constructive dialogue with EU decision-makers and other stakeholders.

In his address, the President of COMECE, H.E. Mgr. Mariano Crociata stated: “at a time when our two regions are facing a number of humanitarian, security, socio-economic, political as well as environmental challenges, the Summit and its follow-up represent a unique opportunity to reinforce bi-regional cooperation, but also to engage in unity for a world based on the principles of justice, solidarity, fraternity, and sustainability that leaves no one behind”. The event was organised by the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE), the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM), Caritas Latin America and the Caribbean, and Caritas Europa.
