The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) invites EU stakeholders, the general public and media representatives to save the date for two public events to be held in Brussels this October: the presentation of Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical Magnifica humanitas on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, followed by the Mass for Europe on Thursday, 15 October 2026 at the Church of Notre-Dame des Victoires au Sablon.
The two events will take place in the context of the 2026 Autumn Plenary Assembly of COMECE (14-16 October), entitled “Renewing the European Project in the Light of Magnifica humanitas“, which will bring together the bishops delegated to COMECE by the Episcopates of the EU Member States. During the Assembly, the bishops will reflect on the contribution of Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical to the future of Europe and the European project.
The presentation of the Encyclical and the Mass for Europe are open to the public.
The presentation of Magnifica humanitas will be a high-level public event, bringing together prominent representatives of the Catholic Church, the European institutions and civil society to reflect on the relevance of Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical for the future of the Europen project.
Further details on the venue, time, keynote speakers and registration for the presentation of the Encyclical will be announced in the coming weeks. Additional information on the COMECE Autumn Plenary Assembly will also be published in due course.
