Bishop Martínez Camino was born in Santa Cruz de Marcenado, Spain, on 9 January 1953. He studied at the Pontifical Minor Seminary of Comillas and obtained a Degree in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Valladolid in 1976. On 24 May 1980 he was ordained a priest.
